Studio Policy
Attendance
Timeliness is essential, call or text me if you will be late. Cancellations require 24 hours notice by telephone. Cancellations without 24 hours notice will be considered forfeited and no make-up lesson will be given. If I must cancel a class, a refund will be given. Parents of young children are welcome and encouraged to stay in the studio during your child’s lesson. If you choose to drop off your child, you are expected to pick them up promptly after the lesson.
Student Responsibilities
Preparation for lessons, include: arriving promptly, with music, a recording device. Students are expected to practice at least 30 minutes, five days a week. Parents should set a practice schedule for your children and give then an area where they will not be distracted with outside stimulus.
Music
I will assign music designed to build particular technical and/or artistic goals, however I encourage students to also bring in music that inspires them or that they preparing for a school audition, church solo, etc. It is the student’s responsibility to acquire the required texts. I can purchase books for you, but I require cash up front. There will be a nominal $5 service fee, this fee will go toward building the studio library.
Additional Performance Opportunities
How do you get more comfortable on stage? There are many ideas, but I think the most effective way is be prepared and perform frequently! Throughout the year I will offer additional performance opportunities in the form of performance classes and student recitals. If I feel you are ready to sing in public, you will be notified of these events. The cost is $20 to participate, additional cost will apply for performing multiple songs. An accompanist will be provided.
